ART WITHOUT PASSPORTS SERIES:  Thursday, August 16, 6:30pm "En Plein Air,"  Greg Lewis The French term En Plein Air, or "in the open air" refers to drawings and paintings that are completed on location outdoors. This presentation will explore the experience of what the eye sees and the heart and hand express. The act of painting outdoors has allured artists for centuries to heighten the visual senses, producing either a quick study painting, or a finished work of art. Among the notable plein-air artists are Claude Monet, Mary Cassatt, Winslow Homer, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Vincent Van Gogh, and Winston Churchill, just to name a few. IN THE GALLERY The OSA Gallery is free and open to the public:  Monday - Saturday, 1 - 4 pm plus special reception hours as announced in exhibit listings   First Annual Plein Air Portland Show juror:  Sarkis Antikajian continues through August 30 OSA's first annual exhibit focused on plein air painting,  featuring recent works created outdoors in Oregon and Washington. The Art Without Passports Series presents one of the most famous artists of the 20th Century. Georgia O'Keeffe took on the male dominated art world of the 1920's and never looked back. Her thought provoking subjects, methods and use of colors has brought us into abstract views of nature, rural and urban landscapes. Georgia's body of work has both inspired and influenced generations of artists and non-artists alike.

All are welcome to attend with free admission, as well as free parking.

Greg Lewis Evening Demo at OSA

Greg Lewis Evening Demo - Free

September 7 at 6pm

OSA's own exhibit installer, Greg Lewis, will be presenting a demo sampling of his drawing tricks and techniques gained over four decades of professional art and design practice.

Whether your art concepts are simple or complex, Greg will share basic drawing methods that will help make your art both time saving and fun. Bring your own drawing (tools and supplies, i.e. pencils, charcoal, pastels, eraser, etc.), as Greg will provide drawing paper.

Greg's demo will be preceded by a short critique session (doors open at 6). The demo itself starts at 7. It is free and open to the public — no need to be a member for this.  All age groups and art experience are encouraged to attend. There will also be some light refreshments.

OSA/PPF Joint Exhibit Opening Reception

OSA/PPF Joint Exhibit Opening Reception is May 7, 2017 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

        Special Panel Discussion Begins at 1:30pm in Main Classroom   

Admission to this OSA/PPF Joint Exhibition , the opening reception, and the special panel discussion are free and open to the public. There will be approximately 90 photographic works on exhibit.

Panelists from OSA and PPF will each present a 15 minute power point discussion of their work in the exhibit. Here is an example!
