Call to Artists - juried group show! OSA

 'Text and Texture'
July 8 - 31

Opening Reception:
Sunday, July 8,  1 - 3pm

A non-juried group exhibit in collaboration with Portland Society for Calligraphy celebrating the art of text, lettering, and the written word.





Featuring work by OSA members, PSC members and PSC affiliates in traditional calligraphy as well as works in a variety of media that incorporate text or calligraphic line and design.

Artwork take-in dates:  July 5-6

Volunteers needed to assist with artwork take-in and reception.  Please call or email the OSA office to schedule the time you'll help.

Goose Hollow Days 2018:  $200 Poster Competition
OSA is a partner with the Goose Hollow Foothills League and the MAC in supporting the 2nd Annual  Goose Hollow Days Street Festival on Saturday , September 15

 
The GHD organizing committee is asking OSA members to submit a painting in jpg format for their poster competition.
The winning artist will receive a $200 cash award and that artist's painting will be featured on the GHD poster and other promotional material for the event.

Deadlines:
  • By noon on June 18, 2018 Interested OSA artists need to inform Melanie Yoo, mellieyoo@gmail.com,  of GHD of their desire to enter the competition.
  • By noon on July 9, 2018:  Image of painting must be received by GHD.  Send file in high-resolution jpg format to Melanie Yoo,  mellieyoo@gmail.com

OSA Free Art Demonstration

Second-Thursday Daytime Demo:

Visualization to Realization, Chas Martin

Visualization transforms your raw idea into its ultimate execution. It’s an exploration through sketches, painting, modeling, photos and more. Each step moves you closer to realizing your vision. Chas will demonstrate his own visualization techniques from graphite to watercolor to wire to finished sculpture.

Chas is a painter, sculptor and instructor. In a previous role as creative director, he guided individuals toward the definitive expression of their ideas. He is a former instructor at Boston Art Institute, San Francisco Academy of Art University, Pacific Northwest College of Art, Northwest Academy and Sitka Center for Art and Ecology.    chasmartin.com
