In this 2 day workshop (may 21-22) there will be watercolor problem solving and plein air instruction.
Day One will be taught in the classroom where Ron will take the first part of the day and cover what he likes to call watercolor boot camp. This will consist of how to lay down confident brushstrokes, how to paint light, compositions, figures and other problem areas (students will be encouraged to follow along). After lunch break Ron will demonstrate a painting. The rest of the day students can work on a painting of their choice.
Day Two weather permitting will be on location. Ron will do two paintings of the Portland downtown, one in the morning and one after lunch with time for students to paint after his demo. There will be a critique at the end of the day. Day two is designed to help those studio artists paint quickly, concentrate on shapes and values rather than details and succeed in a plein air setting. There will be a lot of one on one instruction. All levels welcome. For Saturday students should be prepared to paint outdoors. Please bring water, appropriate clothing and footwear
All supplies available at Art Media
Please bring:
Watercolors:(Ron uses Graham) Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Ultramarine Blue, Yellow (artist's choice) Cerulean Blue and Alizarin Crimson and your personal preferences.
At least one sheet w/c paper (you will be painting on half sheets both days)
Brushes:Bring what you have.
