Celebrate #GivingTuesday with
Oregon Society of Artists!

Giving Tuesday is a movement that supports and encourages giving and philanthropy during the holiday season.

This year, OSA has worked hard to establish or grow our partnerships, and we now have exciting ongoing outreach programs with:
  • Multnomah County Urban 4-H
  • PDX Jazz: Jazz in the Schools
  • Cedar Sinai Park
  • Albertina Kerr
  • OSA’s own Veteran Program
These community connections enrich OSA, helping us accomplish our mission to provide easily accessible visual art outlets for the diverse communities of our region.

Now more than ever, your support is needed to continue our work using visual art as a powerful tool to heal and change. Please consider donating to our annual Pass The Beret fund-raising efforts on #GivingTuesday by using the link below!

"The MacKintosh Art Legacy - Where Art & Architecture are One"
Greg Lewis
Who was this man of artistic talent, that helped introduced a holistic approach to generations of artists, architects and interior designers? Charles Rennie MacKintosh (1868-1928), set new and innovative standards during the European movements of Art Nouveau and Symbolism.
His modern designs in architecture and interior decor, promoted living in total art environments. Bring a friend and join us for this look at the life and work of CRM...where art and architecture become one.

UPCOMING SPECIAL DEMO:
Friday, November 30, 12 - 1pm
Free and open to the public

Monotype Demonstration, Marcy Baker

Born in the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York, Marcy received her Bachelor Of Fine Arts from Syracuse University. She and her husband explored the Sierra Nevada Region of Northern California before settling in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1991. There Baker discovered monotype printmaking, the ideal method to express her affinity pattern and color.

In 2001, Baker moved to the Pacific Northwest, fostering a dramatic shift in both scenery and creative focus.  Her layered process, cultivated by the lush and abundant surroundings of Oregon, embraces techniques drawn from painting and collage, as well as printmaking.

A regionally recognized artist throughout the Northwest. Baker’s monotypes, collages, and paintings have been featured in numerous solo, invitational juried exhibitions nationally.

OSA News

OSA demonstrations are free and open to the public.
SECOND-THURSDAY DAYTIME DEMONSTRATION:
Thursday, November 8, 11am

"Layers of Color in Acrylic"    William Hernandez
In this demo, participants will learn how to loosen up and apply paint in a gestural, painterly manner using acrylic paint on canvas. Using different layers of colors, paint and brush strokes in a spontaneous way. William will show how he delves into imagery with a sense of boldness and spontaneity and to explore the emotional color response, rather than realistic color. If you feel that you are concentrating too much on small details at the expense of a bolder, more dramatic outcome, this step-by-step demo will help you to learn what to paint as William takes color to new unexpected places by working with various colors and departing from a quick sketch.

The demo begins with a short explanation of his own process, methods, and a step-by-step painting demonstration.
